Shackleton

Shackleton, Arthur Franklin was born 14 November 1887 in Otley, Yorkshire. Son of Thomas Pickles Shackleton and Mary Jane Lowe. He married Elsie Eliza Iles in 1910 in Keynsham, Gloucestershire. He appears on the 1891 census for Holbeck, Yorkshire; 1901 for Kingswood, Gloucestershire; 1911 for Saltash, Cornwall. He appears on the electoral rolls for 1935-1936. He lived at School House. He was a shoemaker before enlisting in the Royal Navy for 12 years from 1904-1916. At the age of 18, he was 5'6", had light brown hair and grey eyes. He had tattoos of 2 stars, 2 flags, an anchor and a heart on his arms. He died in 1965 in Bristol, Gloucestershire. See Photographs.
